Dan Chabanov joins Taylor and Bill for a conversation that touches on racing MTB in the U.S., the World Cup MTB scene, fixed-gear crit racing, geared crit racing and, of course, cyclocross. This was a really fun conversation that I know you're going to enjoy.

Note on audio: a handful of times throughout the episode Taylor's levels peak. I screwed this up and couldn't completely fix it in post.  Need to rework some hardware in the basement and will have this all sorted by the next time we're down here recording.

It may be the cyclocross offseason but that doesn't mean there isn't good racing going on, and we don't mean road racing. The UCI pro XC or XCO season will get started soon and if you love cyclocross, you really need to check out the cross-country mountainbike scene.

In episode 71, Taylor (@jtaylorjones), Kevin (@cxshark) and Bill (@cxhairs) give you a bit of a primer on cross country racing. We talk about the U.S. scene, Europe and then devolve into the rebirth of XCE or eliminator.

It's the offseason and we're starting it off with movie night. Danny Koniowski and Jorge Brito joined me in the basement for a break-down of the 2012 messenger action film, Premium Rush. At least that's how it started. Mostly, we had a great discussion about being a messenger and how it's changed over the years. With war stories from Richmond, DC and NYC. It's a little different but I think you'll dig it.

As expected, USA Cycling announced today that the U.S. Cyclocross National Championships will move back to December, starting with December 2018. This means that 2018 will get two championships. The first in January in Reno and the second in Louisville, Kentucky, in December. Along with the announcement to move Nationals back to December, USAC also announced Louisville and Tacoma, Washington, will host the 2018 (v2.0) and 2019 CXNats.

For Crosshairs Radio, Episode 68, I had the opportunity to chat with Micah Rice, USAC Vice President of National Events, about the move to December and the new locations on the latest Crosshairs Radio, which is posted now. In that conversation we do a deeper dive into the reasons why the change was made to January, six years ago, and what prompted the move back to December. We also talk about the new locations and other cyclocross issues like the state of the PROCX.

For Episode 67 of Crosshairs Radio, friend of the show Ed Nessen returns to recap the highlights of the 2016-2017 cyclocross season. While planning for this episode we decided the format would be 60 topics in 60 minutes. In retrospect, that was a ridiculous concept because there's no way we were able to discuss anything in under a minute. So in the end this is more like 30 topics or less in over two hours. Sometimes cyclocross is a marathon and not a sprint.

For episode 60 we have the first ever live Crosshairs Radio recorded Saturday, January 7, at BiCi Co. in Hartford, Conn. In town for U.S. Cyclocross Nationals, Bill, Spencer Haugh of The Slowride Podcast and Emily Kachorek of Squid Bikes, braved the ice and snow to talk all things cyclocross. Thanks so much for everyone who made it out to the event. It was a blast to put on.

For those listening at home, thanks for tuning in. If this is your first time listening, you can explore the rest of our episodes here.
